Dear ,
Yesterday, our Senator Pat Jehlen announced that she will not run for re-election. I feel incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from Pat. It’s difficult for me to imagine the State House without her. It is a place that is not always easy to navigate for leftists, women, or people of color and yet Pat has always been a reliable mentor, co-conspirator, and friend.
On so many issues, she was far ahead of her time and the politics of our state. From taxing the rich, fighting voraciously for the public good, supporting our incarcerated brothers and sisters, to standing up for Palestine, Pat has long been the GOAT 🐐 and we have all been so lucky to have been represented by her. Thank you Pat for fighting for all of us for 35 years in the State House.

I feel very humbled and grateful for all the outreach I’ve received from constituents and community leaders who have encouraged me to run. I’m committed to building power on the left and that’s the question on my mind when I think about running for state Senate or whether I’ll stay in the House. I am seriously considering it and what is the most effective way to champion bold policies and our shared values to build a government for the many, not the few. I will continue to have conversations with people around the district.
Upcoming Events Holiday Party at Sally O’Brien’s I hope you can join us for my holiday party at Sally O'Brien's in Union Sq next Monday December 15th at 5:30pm.
Come learn about our recent accomplishments, what work is ahead of us in 2026, and next steps on organizing to build people power. I'm honored that we will be joined by several local and statewide advocacy orgs, activists, and organizers so you can connect and get involved in our movement. |
I am so grateful to be able to fight for issues that impact our communities. From passing legislation to end forced brokers fees, increasing transparency in the legislature, to doubling funding for affordable housing and green space in Somerville, it has been the honor of a lifetime to deliver on these issues.
While I'm proud of the work we've done together, there is so much more for us to do ahead, including: - Fighting for affordability by lowering the cost of housing, child care, education, utility bills, and food
- Protecting and supporting our immigrant neighbors, LGBTQIA+ youth, and anyone whose fundamental human rights are being violated daily by the Trump administration
-
Fixing the MBTA, building thriving public schools, and investing in a green infrastructure by taxing corporate offshore assets and big tech companies profiting off your privacy

This is why I'm excited that we will be joined by several local and statewide advocacy organizations and unions. Simply put, we cannot win transformative change alone. I'm thrilled to connect you all with fellow activists, advocates, and organizers and all the amazing work we do together. I hope you can join us next Monday, December 15th 5:30pm-7:30pm at Sally O'Brien's. Please RSVP here.

Committee on Aging and Independence tour Laurel Ridge Rehabilitation Center
I joined my colleagues on the Committee on Aging and Independence to tour Laurel Ridge Rehabilitation Center and the need to de-densify nursing homes, especially in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. De-densifying long-term care facilities reduces spreading of infectious disease, the need for frequent hospitalization, and improves care and dignity for older adults. Thank you Chair Stanley and Rep Montaño for organizing this tour! |
